Airport CEO | Extreme Lag/FPS Drops [Solved]

Any update @Olof

Builders are unable to finish construction as everything stops due to the lag.

No, itā€™s been weekend (on which we donā€™t work) and thereā€™s a lot of things to look at in the backlog today so I cannot say when there will be an update on this unfortunately.

ah okay.

is it possible to estimate the update like would it be this week that I would be able to get back playing the game.

in the meantime I will reinstall my windows and see any progress will change.

Sounds like construction queue is quite bigā€¦ >1k objects to construct, or so?
Just some ideas to work-around:
Have you tried to let the game running for itself until constructors completed their tasks? For a night, or soā€¦?
Is it possible to pause game by hitting ā€˜spaceā€™? Game still lags in pause?

If possible, you could try to cancel all construction while game paused. If this comes from constructors, this could make game playable, again. Afterwards you could try again with small construction ordersā€¦

As devsā€™ priorities are at the moment to fix more ā€˜mass-relevantā€™ bugs, I can imagine that investigating this individual, rare bug could take some timeā€¦

Had a similar issue, a while ago, so I know how disappointing waiting isā€¦

Edit: Iā€™m not an IT specialist, but imho itā€™s hardly possible that windows has anything to do with this bug.

Iā€™m trying to allow the construction to finish now. Then I will see how it is after.

My windows was acting slow sometimes so I said nothing to lose haha

Anyways I finished off the construction and dismissed the contractors then saved it and re entered it and itā€™s still the same thing.

I domt know what else to do. Iā€™ll give it another few days and see can a developer figure out the problem that may be causing it.

It seems to be working okay now actually Iā€™ll play it for awhile and see doss thebissue still reoccur again

So instead of originally having 160 contractors I put 10 with the need to construct 241 objects.

Itā€™s really unstable.

I remember I did over 3000 objects no bother at one stage.

Happy to know that your game is fine now. :slightly_smiling_face::slightly_smiling_face::relieved:. If you do have a giant amount of objects to construct at one time consider while the game is still barley playable to go into F10 and take off simulation. But if you donā€™t want to ā€œcheatā€ thatā€™s fine too. Glad you can play ACEO agian!

Not really I can only play if I dont construct anything

If I start construction any sort it resumes with the lag

Have you tried turning off simulated construction in the f10 menu

So Iā€™ve checked your save now and there were a few design issues that all are causing the performance issues youā€™re having. Your secure area has no stairs down to the boarding desk. Then after boarding, which is placed on the ground floor, they need to walk up again to board via the jetway which is not optimal. Furthermore you have a bathroom area that is only accessible via the secure area, but itā€™s zoned as open. You essentially have hundreds of passengers trying to walk places where they cannot which is what is causing your performance issues. I solved your design problems here and once thatā€™s done everything is running smoothly, although I would probably reconsider some of the design choices such as making sure that the boarding desk is on the same floor as the jetway!

I would disagree on that. There are many airports with these examples. For example some single ground floor airports have a stairway to jetway to first floor which is just a small section.

Also there are major airports with separated departure and arrival floors where boarding floor is mostly on other floor than first floor.

Maybe not force it to be on the same floor, but require there to be a walkable connection of maximum X squares between boarding desk and jetway. ā€œSaveā€ this connection internally and if the player wants to remove or change any of such saved squares, then only allow it if you can find another connection of maximum X squares distance.
Would that technically fit in?
If thatā€™s possible, you wouldnā€™t even need pathfinding for the way anymore because you already know the shortest way.

Well, in this particular case it did not look like it was an intended design, hence my recommendation, but yes only in this specific case!

I have starting working on fixing the designs now.

so far I have,

  • bathroom secure area secured and one in a public place where Baggage area is located one will be added upstairs.

That was originally the plan to have Check In desks upstairs aswell as downstairs. Room for self check in desks when they come.

I noticed that passengers canā€™t find their way from the car park to the terminal any advice in how to improve that.

Edit:
Game is working okay now. Will be back to hours on end on it  Thanks.

It might be because there are no paths leading out of the car park. If underground I made a small reception area building and connected it via stairs to my main terminal. If overground try wrapping sidewalk around it with crosswalks if needed.

Glad to hear your game is running smoothly now. Donā€™t know why it wasnā€™t like that before though.
