Maintenance Operations

Description:

Each plane could be supplied with a maintenance level, this maintenance could then be carried out either at the stand or at a maintenance shed for a fee. The higher percentage (health for want of a better word) might be a quick fix at a stand where a more major overhaul may need the plane to be towed to a maintaince hanger for work

Maintenance staff might work in the same way as the contractors in that only a certain number of mechanics could be hired per start level of contract with new contracts being linked to the reputation of your airport meaning that initially your maintenance might be slow as you could sign a contract for 3 or 4 mechanics. When you reputation rises you would have a whole crew.

If you were able to agree or reject the maintenance requests you would then be able to decide which requests could be tackled without bringing your airport to a halt, a maintenance page in operations could be unlocked by hiring a chief engineer board member giving control of which maintenance you can auto accept or reject, so maybe accept quick maintenance on GA flights, reject overhauls of large aircraft.

Why it should be implemented:

To allow the implementation of the incident scenarios suggested in another feature request and provide another element of realism

Good idea.

You could also ‘bid’ for contracts to airlines at your airport to provide them with maintenance, acting as the middle man between your maintenance crews and the airlines serviced. I really like this idea.
