Ok thanks. Hopefully they will be in the game later on.
Overbooked flights and passengers having to wait for the next flight
then I would realy feel like being at work at the airport!
I don’t know if it already has been suggested - if so just ignor this post - I would like to see one way streets for cars and busses, so that I can have more cars and busses driving to my terminal (and that the busses don’t make a u-turn when leaving the bus station and blocking the road for a second - it always bothers me a bit when I see it in the gameplay videos)
Building One way roads
Saw this via a linked topic and thought I could share a fun fact! Airport x-rays sometimes ad a fake image on top of a scanned bag of a weapon or explosives to see if the security staff monitoring will spot it. If they spot it the computer informs them that it was just a test but if they fail to spot it the station shuts down and the staff member is taken out of service to write a report!
Not as such i hope we can have more influence on traffic flow in general. Bus-only lanes, oneway streets, that sort of thing. Without it becoming traffic simulator
Are you referring to the TIP-pics? Not at all airports, this is implemented (at least in Europe).
As for the 2h rotation (position swaps) you were describing - that is totally right at some airports, but in practical conditions, one female and one male agent are sharing one metal detector and x-ray station. Through that setup they “rotate” frequently and therefore no such rule has to be implemented It might be the case that this is not implemented at airports outside EU / Middle East, tho.
Interesting! I can only speak for Swedish airports but I assumed that it’s more or less the same around the world. I have two close friends working as Security staff.
As far as I know they work together in teams of 5-6 people that all rotate on all positions with no real rules on the ratio of male to female staff but every station pretty balanced, I think.
I don’t think this topic has been thoroughly discussed before although medical emergencies does seem to have gotten some attention. I’m certainly not suggesting it be earmarked for first release.
Some may or may not be aware that it is not uncommon for medical services to employ commercial aviation services for the purposes of medical transfers, generally of low risk medical patients, and will often be accompanied by a nurse.
Just to add some variation to commercial flights, occasionally, an ambulance may meet a commercial flight on the tarmac for the sake of dropping off or receiving a walking, wheelchair or stretcher patient, the latter of which would generally be loaded from the rear on a standard scissor lift.
Of course, just an idea based on my RL experience but certainly not a deal breaker if never implemented.
External party buildings / services at your airport
Certainly a nice sounding idea. I’m putting it in the suggestions thread
I have a feeling this isn’t even that hard to implement for the devs, since they could make it a special kind of service vehicle that comes up to the aircraft after it landed. Especially since an ambulance might be brought over for a passenger that became ill on the airplane, so it has multiple uses.
And i hope that emergency vehicles - fire trucks and ambulances and such - make it into the game somehow anyways If only to lower the chance of a ‘crash event’
Wouldn’t lower the chance of a crash, just mean it’s not as deadly…
Yes. What exactly happens depends on how they want to implement crashes. As an abstract event with an immediate outcome or an actual graphic representation
I do hope they don’t have any “Please click here to immediately fix the problem with no noticeable drawbacks or any way to monitor the problem” pop-up events…
Well drawbacks could be a closed runway / airport on a timer. Ideal? No, but it does add a bit of flavor and is way easier to implement than actually crashing an aircraft.
Tbh i hope you get rated on how well you handled an emergency, impacting your ratings and perhaps with financial consequences
You say airport on a timer…
What value does it add to gameplay?
This thing pops up “The runway is now closed for 15 minutes due to an accident”, the first thought that goes into my head is “Oh, I can’t do anything productive for 15 minutes, time to go make a cuppa and read the paper for a bit”
An option like that is, to be honest, so much less than ideal that it’s not worth including, even for the sake of variety… Which is adds none of in my opinion.
Having to actively engage in the emergency, calling for more ambulances, selecting a staging point, defining a safe distance and setting up emergency refuge facilities - hot tea and biscuits available in the first class lounge for all those effected by the crash - all sound fun and interesting, add a challenge and work very nicely into your ratings idea which I agree with wholeheartedly!
We did say we wouldn’t let them run out of features!
i must agree with you tbh events was more for actual flavor, like the olympics beginning or something
I suppose that does make significantly more sense.
“The Olympics begins in 6 months will you be ready?”
" Expletive "
Builds 3 new terminals and 8 new runways to cope with increased demand
Exactly. I thought it could be expanded for this situation, but it obviously cannot
That might be totally true for your countries regulations! In Germany, countries in the middle east etc, as an example, only female agents can perform a security check of female individuals (employees or passengers) and vice versa. For other countries, there is no such rule and therefore the “2h rotation” system is in place

What if the runway closure would cause significant impact on revenue? You will have to pay high penalty fees to the airlines blocked for the slot(s), decrease of reputation, additional resources required for disabled aircraft recovery, increased security demand, etc. etc. This would actually add A LOT of depth to the game - surely not in the first alpha release but down to the road
He meant 15 minutes in-game, right?? That means 45 seconds in real life. That is survivable for me.
