Some ideas I thought of!

HUBS: Sign big contracts with airlines to make your airport a hub for select airlines. After you have built them a sky club, mx hanger, parking hanger and cargo hanger. The airline pays huge lease monthly for priority over other airlines and use of multiple gates and an/or entire terminal.

Originators: Airlines arriving late at night may not have another departure until next morning. Make sure you plan for that when scheduling gates

Your own Airline: start off with small charters out of charter/fbo building and prop engine aircraft then grow your airline to be largest in world. Can you make your own airline the biggest customer at your airport?

Major Events/Disasters: everything from weather, to major sporting events and conventions effect the number of arriving and departing passengers. Christmas is the most busy time of year can you handle the load? A major airline just crashed on takeoff/landing can your services get to the aircraft to save survivors? How long will you keep airport closed? Was it an airport employees fault for crash? i.e wrong fuel? Was it sabotage?

Airline employees: instead of hiring and spending airport funds on employees, why not have let the airlines hire their own employees for gates/ramp/ticketing and cargo needs? Then allow you to concentrate funds on safety and security services.

Security/Safety: plan out well designed security areas to make your airport safe. Build fire stations with proper equipment and ability to reach airport/aircraft before a small fire destroys everything. Hire police to keep airport areas safe and peaceful.

Comprehensive Fuel System: allow airlines to contract fueling needs to third party’s or build your own fuel farms and setup elaborate fuel lines and allow or force the airlines to use your fuel and pay your prices.

FBO/GA Services: some people are to VIP to fly commercial. Build FBOs or Charter companies to fly those VIPS. Buildings can be built in terminal or secluded area of airport. Make it airport operated or contract out third party to run it for you. All GA aircraft will park at the FBO and charge for landing and overnight fees per plane depending on size.

Transportation: build car rental lots and contract rental companies. Bus stops and train stops

Interior operations: multiple food shops and kiosks, multiple retail shops and kiosks. Build trams to get pax across terminal or to other terminals for connecting flights. Moving walkways for faster movement. Airline lounges for comfort. Live bands for entertainment and kid play areas. Museums for adult entertainment and casino games.

Passenger comfort: build hotels and contract out to major companies to allow pax to use during a layover or during situations that force airport closed.

Airport services: snow removal teams, construction area for materials to be delivered, airport cleaning crew. Emergency services (see above)

Infrastructure: build main roads for pax traffic and emergency vehicle traffic. Build service roads for airport traffic and emergency traffic. Build zipper roads to designate where airport service vehicles must stay on. Keep those taxiways and runways clear!

Making the money!: charge different landing fees depending on time of day, time of year and aircraft size. Charge gate usage fees by the hour or flat rate depending on aircraft and airline. Will you favor one airline over another?

Going Green!: research green tech. Build wind farms and solar panels to make energy costs cheaper.

Air shows! Plan air shows and allow people on certain areas of airport to watch the show.

Online competition: visit other players airports and even set up exclusive flights to their airports!

Hey there, welcome Steam user to the forums  these are all great ideas.

If you look around, i’m sure you will find some like minded people. Do add your thoughts to the different ongoing discussions.

I.e. the main thread about events and emergencies:

Hi mate a great list of idea and tonnes that we all want to see in the game. We have a thread here:

https://forum.apoglabs.com/t/minor-details-make-your-tiny-suggestions-here/634/367

This is where people have been making suggestions like yours. It’s well worth a read.

Lots of the things you have suggested are already in the game and it’s really great to see that your thinking the same way as many of us here and want to make the game as realistic as possible!

Hi there. These are some good suggestions.

Some of them are already implemented (separate roads for outside of airport and separate service roads for service vehicles, changing landing fees based on aircraft size, food shops and kiosks)

Some others have been promised by devs and are in development (parking hangars, events and disasters, fire stations, parking lots, rental vehicles and taxi, train stations, moving walkways, de-icing and snow removal)

Most of the rest have been discussed to some level by the community with the occasional input from one of the devs.

Some of the topics should pop up when you run a search, and in general, we find it better to post individual ideas under separate threads. We find that it helps keep the discussion streamlined. That is to say we can have 20 discussions on 20 different threads simultaneously more easily than trying to have 20 different conversations on the same thread.

That being said, happy to have your input, feel free to build on the existing discussions in the other treads.

Moving walkways should already be in game, there was a .gif showing them in a tweet.

Well that is great to hear! I can’t wait for this game it’s going to be epic! Can’t wait to see the community creations! Hopefully some suggests curved walls for realistic looking terminals!

Curves in grid based games arent the easiest though

It could be done with purpose made pieces, but that’s a lot of work

You can round the corners of the 1x1 sprites though, which helps.
